Centennial notches win in Legion state tourney

Centennial junior-to-be Kristopher Bow held Arbor View to two runs on six hits in six innings to help the Bulldogs to a 6-4 win in the opening round of the American Legion state tournament at Wilson Stadium.

Isaiah Salas, Zackary Simon and Garrett Holden each hat three hits and two RBIS for Centennial (24-11), Bow (8-1) drove in two runs, and Miles Brown earned a three-inning save.

Niles Scafati went 3-for-5 with two runs for the A’s (10-11-1).

■ Women’s tennis: At Gstaad, Switzerlan­d, second-seeded

Kiki Bertens of the Netherland­s rallied for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 win over third-seeded Anett Kontaveit of Estonia in the Gstaad Ladies Championsh­ip final for her second WTA title of the season.

■ Men’s tennis: At Newport, R.I., top-seeded American John Isner beat Australian qualifier Matthew Ebden 6-3, 7-6 (4) for his third Hall of Fame Open title and 11th ATP World Tour crown.
