White Sox 8, Astros 5 — At Chicago, rookie Kevan Smith had a home run and drove in four runs for Chicago in a win over Dallas Keuchel (9-2) and Houston. Keuchel allowed a season-high eight runs and 10 hits in four innings.

Red Sox 2, Rays 0 — At St. Petersburg, Fla., Chris Sale (14-4) allowed two hits in eight innings and struck out 13, and Boston picked up its seventh straight victory. Sale reached double digits in strikeouts for the 15th time this season.

Blue Jays 4, Yankees 2 — At Toronto, Josh Donaldson hit two two-run homers, J.A. Happ (5-8) won his sixth straight decision against the Yankees, and Toronto won the opener of a three-game series with New York.

Angels 3, Orioles 2 — At Anaheim, Calif., Parker Bridwell (61), a right-hander the Angels picked up simply for cash in mid-april from the Orioles, allowed one run in seven innings to defeat his former team.

Mariners 7, Athletics 6, 10 innings — At Oakland, Calif., Leonys Martin homered in the top of the 10th inning as Seattle won for the third time in four games. The Mariners are now 5-3 on their ninegame road trip. Francisco, Buster Posey hit a threerun homer in the first that was upheld after review and later stole a base, Ty Blach (8-7) won his second straight start and San Francisco earned its third victory in four games.

Phillies 5, Braves 2 — At Atlanta, Odubel Herrera hit a tworun homer, Zach Eflin (1-3) pitched seven strong innings following his recall from the minors, and Philadelph­ia won for the 10th time in 12 games with Atlanta.

Padres 7, Reds 3 — At Cincinnati, Jose Pirela had four hits, and Yangervis Solarte had a homer among his three hits to help San Diego improve to 4-1 against Cincinnati. The Reds have gone 7-18 since the All-star break.
