Men’s tennis: At Mason, Ohio, seventhseeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria won his first ATP Masters title in his first final by downing Nick Kyrgios 6-3, 7-5 in the Western & Southern Open.
College football: Starting Georgia cornerback Malkom Parrish has a chance to be ready for the season opener despite having surgery last week to repair a “small” broken bone in his foot, coach Kirby Smart said.
Speedskating: At Kearns, Utah, threetime Olympic medalist J.R. Celski and Maame Biney were the men’s and women’s America’s Cup overall winners at the conclusion of the three-day U.S short track World Cup qualifier.
