Chiefs RB Ware tears ligament in right knee, may miss season

Ware tore the posterior cruciate ligament and caused other damage to his right knee in Friday’s preseason game in Seattle, an MRI examination revealed.
The Chiefs plan to seek a second opinion, but their medical staff believes he will require season-ending surgery.
Coach Andy Reid said third-round draft pick Kareem Hunt will start at running back for the regular-season opener. Ware, 25, ran for 921 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games last season.
■ Bills: Third-string quarterback T.J. Yates is being evaluated for a concussion, leaving rookie fifth-round draft pick Nathan Peterman as Buffalo’s lone healthy signal-caller. Starter Tyrod Taylor suffered a concussion Saturday.
■ Browns: Coach Hue Jackson said rookie Deshone Kizer will start Cleveland’s season opener, the 27th quarterback to start for Cleveland since 1999.
■ Eagles: Philadelphia acquired cornerback Dexter Mcdougle from the New York Jets for safety Terrence Brooks in an exchange of 2014 draft picks.
■ Falcons: Running back Devonta Freeman will return to practice Monday as a final stage of his concussion protocol, coach Dan Quinn said.
■ Jets: New York claimed defensive end Kony Ealy, a second-round draft pick by Carolina in 2014, off waivers from New England.
■ Television: Retired quarterback Michael Vick joined Fox Sports as a studio analyst for the “NFL Kickoff” show.
