Judge in select home run club

-

Aaron Judge homered twice Sunday in the New York Yankees’ seriesclinching 16-7 win at Texas, becoming the second major league rookie with a 40-homer season.

The 25-year-old also joined Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe Dimaggio and Mickey Mantle as the lone Yankees to hit 40 homers at age 25 or younger.

Mark Mcgwire hit a league-high 49 homers as a rookie for Oakland in 1987. Judge leads the American League this season with 41.

Judge had his fourth multihomer game this year and first since June

11. He has four home runs in seven games since breaking a homerless skid of 57 at-bats and 15 games that stretched to Aug. 16.

Judge’s second homer Sunday ricocheted off a facade high above the Yankees’ bullpen in leftcenter field. That drive in the sixth would have gone 463 feet unimpeded, according to MLB’S Statcast.
