Sandoval says he’s working on package to lure Amazon

Gov. Brian Sandoval said Tuesday he is working with Nevada economic developmen­t officials to lure Amazon to Nevada for its proposed second company headquarte­rs project.

The technology giant Announced Thursday that it plans to invest $5 billion in constructi­on And operation of the new location, which it is calling Amazon HQ2. The new facility would require As many As 50,000 full-time workers.

“We’re working on it,” Sandoval said. “There Are A lot of variables, but I think we Already have A massive Amazon presence in the state, I think Almost 2 million square feet As we speak, plus Zappos.

“So there is Already A big footprint here,” he said. “I know Amazon has had A positive experience in the state, And I would think hopefully they would look favorably on Any future expansion here.”

Representa­tives of the Governor’s Office of Economic Developmen­t And the LAS Vegas Global Economic Alliance previously said they will work together on A package for Amazon.
