■ Astros 1, Angels 0 — At Anaheim, Calif., Justin Verlander (12-8) pitched eight innings of one-hit ball in a stellar second start for Houston, and the Astros snapped their four-game skid. Houston lowered its magic number for clinching the AL

West title to five.

■ Royals 4, White Sox 3 — At Kansas City, Mo., Brandon Moss hit a grand slam in the first inning for his third consecutiv­e game with a homer, powering Kansas City to its third win in four games. The homer was Moss’s fourth career grand slam.

■ Mariners 10, Rangers 3 — At Arlington, Texas, Ben Gamel and Kyle Seager both hit threerun homers and Seattle handed Texas its third loss in four games. The Mariners and Rangers have split the first two games of their four-game series.

■ Red Sox 11, Athletics 1 — At Boston, Mookie Betts hit two home runs and a two-run triple, and Boston won for the fifth time in six games. Betts went 3 for 5 with six RBIS. He’s driven in three runs or more in a teamhigh 11 games.

■ Rays 2, Yankees 1 — At New York, Adeiny Hechavarri­a hit a tiebreakin­g home run in the eighth inning off Sonny Gray (910) and Tampa Bay won playing as the home team in a series relocated to Citi Field because of Hurricane Irma.

■ Blue Jays 3, Orioles 2

— At Toronto, Richard Urena singled home the winning run in the ninth inning and Toronto handed slumping Baltimore its sixth straight loss. Urena singled to center off Orioles closer Zach Britton (2-1). loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning but escaped to earn his 37th save, and Los Angeles ended an 11-game losing streak. Johnny Cueto (7-8) allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings for San Francisco.

■ Rockies 4, Diamondbac­ks 2 — At Phoenix, Carlos Gonzalez, heating up for the stretch run after a subpar season at the plate, homered twice and Colorado won its sixth game in a row to tighten the race for the NL’S top wild card.

■ Phillies 9, Marlins 8, 15 innings — At Philadelph­ia, Nick Williams hit a walk-off, two-out double in the bottom of the 15th inning, scoring Aaron Altherr as Philadelph­ia came from behind to defeat Miami .

■ Cubs 8, Mets 3 — At Chicago, Kris Bryant hit a threerun homer, Jose Quintana (10-11) pitched seven effective innings and Chicago ended a three-game losing streak Quintana also

■ Cardinals 13, Reds 4 — At St. Louis, Paul Dejong homered, Yadier Molina drove in three runs and streaking St. Louis won its fourth straight. Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter walked a career-best four times and scored twice.

■ Brewers 5, Pirates 2 —

At Milwaukee, Eric Thames hit his 29th home run, Domingo Santana went 3 for 4 with two RBIS and Milwaukee handed Pittsburgh starter Gerrit Cole (11-10) his first loss in 10 road starts since May 22.

■ Braves 8, Nationals 0 —

At Washington, Freddie Freeman hit a three-run home run off

Gio Gonzalez (14-7) and Julio Teheran (11-11) threw seven shutout innings as Atlanta beat Washington Nationals, which was fresh off clinching the NL East.
