VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Cody Glass is growing comfortable practicing and playing in the NHL.

The Golden Knights’ top draft pick had a pair of assists in the Knights’ 9-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. The performance comes on the heels of Glass’ goal and two assists in a 4-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings’ rookies on Wednesday.

“Yeah, I feel like I’m adjusting better,” he said. “It’s 10 times faster when you’re playing against NHL guys and a lot more physical. But I’m a lot more confident now. I’m getting used to the contact.”

Glass has practiced well with the veterans in the first two days of training camp. The fact he and Tyler Wong, Tomas Hyka and Nick Suzuki have skated together for more than a week has led to some chemistry between them.

“I think that definitely helped us (Sunday),” he said. “Playing with those guys during rookie camp gave usachancetoknoweachotherandit showed.”

Slash-o-rama

The NHL has mandated that its referees call more slashing penalties, andthatwasthecasesunday.ofthe 19 penalties that were called, six were for slashes. Five of the six went against the Canucks.

Alex Tuch drew the lone Golden Knights slashing penalty when he was sent off 27 seconds into the third period.

NHL headed to China

The Canucks featured a youthful roster as many of the team’s veterans are headed to China for two preseason games against the Los Angeles Kings.

The teams play Thursday in Shanghai and Saturday in Beijing as the NHL seeks to expand the sport into new markets.

“It’s a pretty cool experience for the guys who get to go over there,” Knights defenseman Jason Garrison said following Sunday’s practice at City National Arena in Summerlin. “If you can bring in more viewers and create worldwide interest in this sport and this league, there’s only good things to

Quick turnarounds

The Knights flew in Sunday morning, played the game, then returned to Las Vegas immediately afterward. They’ll repeat the process Tuesday when they fly to Denver, play the Avalanche that night then fly home. The same routine follows for San Jose on Thursday and Anaheim next Sunday.

Normally, the team would get in the night before and settle in at a hotel. But the preseason allows for a little more relaxed schedule.

Grand opening

The Golden Knights will host a ceremony to celebrate newly opened City National Arena at 9 a.m. Monday.

The event is by invitation only and will feature Knights chairman and CEO Bill Foley along with a ceremonial puck drop with Jr. Golden Knights players.

City National Arena, which is the Knights’ practice facility and corporate headquarters, also will serve as a community ice center.

Knights-canucks rebroadcast

The NHL Network will rebroadcast the Knights-canucks preseason game on Monday at 6, 9 and 11 a.m.
