AARP, Findlay KIA partner to share anti-fraud car repair tips

-

AARP will be offering new and current members a 90-minute hands-on workshop on how to prevent fraud when having a car repaired and demonstrations of the latest driving technology to improve safety and mobility for mature drivers during a program to be held 9:30-11 a.m. on Oct. 21 at Findlay Kia, 5325 W. Sahara Ave.

Car education instructor Sarah Lee Marks will lead attendees through a series of under-the-hood exercises, including checking oil, tire pressure and tire changing.

“Many car owners are surprised to learn newer cars come without a spare tire, jack or lug wrench,” Marks said. “With manufacturers opting for run-flat kits, we need to educate the consumer on how these things work and when they won’t.”

Byron Klemaske, general manager of Findlay Kia, adds, “Our cars come with the most state-of-the-art technology, including forward collision alert, blind-spot monitoring, hybrid and plug-in fuel economy. We are proud to be part of a family-owned-and-operated business where many of our team members have been with the company for almost 30 years. We all believe an educated car owner is our best client for life.”

“This clinic is fast-paced, and a tremendous amount of information is shared with our attendees. We have an ergonomic specialist coming in to help our guests with mobility and back issues while driving. This is not a sales pitch,” Marks said.

“I originally created this program for independent-minded women, but the guys wanted in so it’s for everyone. Come ready to have some fun, glove-up, grab a rag and get educated and empowered. If you’ve been driving for more than 25 years, this clinic is for you!”

AARP and Findlay Kia welcome all our adult drivers to attend this event.

Pre-registration is recommended as space is limited. Contact Marks at sarahlee@mycarlady.com or call 1-877-926-8300.
