$1 million grant to help cover response costs

The Department of Justice is offering a $1 million grant to the state of Nevada to help cover the immediate costs of responding to the Oct. 1 mass shooting in Las Vegas.

The grant was announced by

President Donald Trump on Twitter.

“Happy to announce we are awarding $1M to Las Vegas — in order to help local law enforcemen­t working OT to respond to last Sunday’s tragedy,” Trump tweeted ahead of the Justice Department news release.

The $1 million grant will be drawn from emergency response funds from the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

“The Justice Department is continuing to work with Las Vegas officials to address law enforcemen­t and public safety costs related to this tragedy,” the news release said.
