-

A federal judge ordered former major league outfielder Chad Curtis to pay $1.8 million to a young woman who accused him of inappropriately touching her when he was a volunteer coach at a Michigan high school.

The woman testified she lost all of her friends soon after she accused Curtis. Three other victims at Lakewood High in Barry County earlier settled cases against Curtis, who said each accepted $10,000.

Curtis, 48, who is serving a sentence for sexual assault in Gus Harrison Correctional Facility in Adrian, Michigan, batted .264 in a 10year career with six teams that ended in 2001.
