Police investigating altercation between Miami fan and officer

-

Police are investigating a videotaped altercation in which a Miami fan slaps an officer, who then punches her in the head.

Miami-dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said Bridget Freitas, a 30-yearold nurse, has been charged with felony battery on a police officer and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

He said the department is reviewing the video to make sure proper procedures were followed in the altercation at Hard Rock Stadium during Miami’s win Saturday over Virginia Tech.

According to the arrest report, Freitas had been arguing with other fans and was “using profanity in a loud, boisterous manner” when officers arrived. They say they tried to calm her down and asked her to move to the concourse, but she refused.

■ Clemson: Atlantic Coast Conference officials conferred with Tigers officials and are “satisfied with their explanation” for why a laptop was on their sideline Saturday. A school spokesman said it was used by a student working with social media, not by the team, which would be an NCAA violation.

■ South Carolina: Junior wide receiver Deebo Samuel sprained his foot while rehabilitating his broken leg, suffered on Sept. 16, and won’t return this season, coach Will Muschamp said. Samuel leads the Gamecocks with six touchdowns, including two on kickoff returns.
