No. 1 Alabama loses two more linebacker­s because of injuries

Mack Wilson likely is out for four to six weeks with a foot injury, coach Nick Saban said.

Both were hurt in Saturday’s win over Louisiana State. Five Crimson Tide linebacker­s have missed games with injuries, including Terrell Lewis (elbow) and Christian Miller (biceps), who were lost for the season in the opener.

■ Brigham Young: Sophomore Beau Hoge and freshmen Joe Critchlow and Kody Wilstead will compete to start at quarterbac­k Friday against UNLV after starter Tanner Mangum was lost for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury, coach Kalani Sitake said.

■ Purdue: Junior quarterbac­k David Blough will have surgery Tuesday and miss the rest of the season after suffering a dislocated ankle, fractured fibula and ligament damage in the Boilermake­rs’ win Saturday over Illinois, coach Jeff Brohm said.

■ Wisconsin: Sophomore wideout Quintez Cephus, the No. 6 Badgers’ top receiver with 30 catches for 501 yards and six touchdowns, will miss Saturday’s game against No. 25 Iowa with a right leg injury, coach Paul Chryst said.

■ Florida: Wide receiver Kadarius Toney (shoulder) and defensive end Jachai Polite (shoulder) won’t play Saturday at South Carolina, and left guard Brett Heggie (left knee) will miss the rest of the season, interim coach Randy Shannon said.

■ Michigan: Quarterbac­k Wilton Speight has been cleared to throw but not for contact as he recovers from cracks in his vertebrae that have kept him out since September, coach Jim Harbaugh said.

■ Kentucky: Punter Matt Panton was suspended for Saturday’s game at Vanderbilt following his arrest for public intoxicati­on, coach Mark Stoops said.

■ Illinois: Defensive coordinato­r Hardy Nickerson is on indefinite leave after the unexpected death of his mother Sunday, coach Lovie Smith said.
