UNLV’S women’s tennis squad caps near-sweep at home meet

The UNLV women’s tennis team closed its fall schedule by winning the main draw championsh­ip in every singles flight and coming one match point short of taking both doubles crowns Sunday in the Rebel Invitation­al at Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Aiwen Zhu won the first-flight title match in straight sets, En-pei Huang won two tiebreaker­s in winning the second flight, and that duo teamed for an 8-1 doubles triumph.

Izumi Asano won the third-flight title in three sets, and Juliet Zhang took the fourth flight.

Men’s soccer: At Johann Memorial Field, No. 23 Seattle (14-3-4) won the Western Athletic Conference title for the third time in five seasons with a 2-1 victory over San

Jose State (9-11-1) in the tournament final.

Josh Adachi, who allowed one goal in three games and stopped two UNLV penalty kicks in the Redhawks’ semifinal win, was named tournament MVP.
