Kizzire edges Fowler for first PGA win; UNLV’S Oda eighth

Patton Kizzire won his first PGA Tour title by beating Rickie Fowler over 36 holes on the final day of the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Kizzire closed with rounds of 66 and 67 for a 19-under-par 265 total and a one-shot win over Fowler, who fell four shots behind until rallying late in the rain-delayed event.

Tour event as a pro, closed with a 1-under 70 to finish eighth. That gets him into the RSM Classic this week in Georgia.

Champions: At Phoenix, Kevin Sutherland closed with a 5-under 66 for a 15-under 198 total and a one-shot victory over Vijay Singh to win the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championsh­ip. Bernhard Langer, bidding for his fourth straight title on the 50-and-over tour, was five strokes back and fell to second in the season standings.

European PGA: At Sun City, South Africa, Branden Grace’s 30-foot birdie putt on No. 16 set up his one-shot win over Scott Jamieson at the Nedbank Challenge, giving South Africa a home winner at Sun City for the first time since 2007. Grace finished with a 6-under 66 for an 11-under 277 total.
