Source: ESPN’S Boone picked to be next Yankees manager
The New York Yankees picked ESPN broadcaster Aaron Boone to succeed Joe Girardi as manager, a person familiar with the decision said.
Boone, 44, never has been a manager or even a coach at any level. He was a major league third baseman from 1997 to 2009 and an All-star with the Yankees in 2003.
Boone’s grandfather, Ray, was a two-time All-star infielder, and his father, Bob, was a four-time All-star catcher and manager of Kansas City and Cincinnati.
