Panarin leads Columbus

NEWARK, N.J. — Artemi Panarin was the perfect setup man Friday.

The left wing had a record-tying performanc­e with five primary assists, leading the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 5-3 win over the New Jersey Devils and a split of their homeand-home series.

Panarin, 26, equaled the club mark for assists set by Espen Knutsen against Calgary on March 24, 2001. The five points also tied the team mark for a single game, accomplish­ed for the fifth time.

Panarin helped the Blue Jackets regain a share of the Metropolit­an Division lead with Washington. Both teams have 37 points, one more than New Jersey.

Pierre-luc Dubois, Lukas Sedlak, Scott Harrington, Alexander Wennberg and Zach Werenski scored for Columbus. Sergei Bobrovsky made 21 saves.

Brian Boyle, Marcus Johansson and Blake Coleman had the New Jersey goals. Cory Schneider stopped 23 shots.

Panarin set up Wennberg for a power-play goal 1:32 into the third period to snap a 3-all tie.

Panarin set up all three Columbus goals in the second period as the Blue Jackets erased a 2-0 deficit. ■

At Anaheim, Calif., Las Vegas product Jason Zucker scored his team-best

14th goal in the second period and assisted on Matt Dumba’s winner with 1:17 left in overtime.

At Chicago, defenseman Gustav Forsling scored with 4.9 seconds left in overtime and had two assists for Chicago, which had a 51-28 edge in shots. Robin Lehner had 48 saves for Buffalo.

At Washington, Matt Niskanen scored the tiebreakin­g goal with 3:22 left to back Braden Holtby, who had 27 saves, as Washington won its fourth straight.
