Durant hits milestone, but Williams gets 50 for Clips

Warriors star reaches 20,000 career points

OAKLAND, Calif. — Lou Williams scored 27 of his career-high 50 points in the third quarter and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors for the first time in more than three years with a 125-106 win Wednesday that spoiled a milestone night for Kevin Durant.

Williams shot 16 for 27 with a career-best eight 3-pointers and made all 10 of his free throws.

Durant became the 44th player in NBA history to score 20,000 career points, finishing with 40 as the Warriors had their five-game winning streak snapped along with a 12-game unbeaten stretch in the Clippers rivalry.

Durant reached the milestone on a pull-up jumper from the left wing at the 1:41 mark of the second quarter. The Warriors announced his accomplish­ment on the main scoreboard and Durant received a standing ovation, shaking his head in acknowledg­ment while still very much in game mode.

At Minneapoli­s, Jimmy Butler scored 26 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had eight assists for Minnesota in its 10th win in its last 13 games.

At Charlotte, N.C., Harrison Barnes had 25 points and 11 rebounds, Yogi Ferrell made seven 3-pointers and scored 22 points and Dallas won despite playing its third game in four days.

At Washington, Ricky Rubio scored 21 points, Donovan Mitchell had 16 and shorthande­d Utah completed a season sweep over Washington. The Jazz had lost 13 of 16 in between meetings with Washington.

At New York, rookie Lauri Markkanen scored a season-high 33 points,

Kris Dunn shook off a nightmaris­h shooting night to make the tiebreakin­g basket in the second overtime, and Chicago won.

At Houston, Chris Paul scored a season-high 37 points, and Eric Gordon added 30 as Houston withstood a late run to defeat Portland.

At Memphis, Tenn., Tyreke Evans scored 28 points, including a pair of free throws with 5.9 seconds left that helped Memphis beat New Orleans.

At Indianapol­is, Goran Dragic scored 20 points and Wayne Ellington made the decisive 3-pointer with 23.2 seconds, helping Miami win its sixth straight.

At New York, Andre Drummond scored 22 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, Tobias Harris had 22 points, and Detroit handed Brooklyn its third straight loss.

At Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo scored 26 points, Khris Middleton added 22 and Milwaukee handed Orlando its sixth straight loss. The Magic also lost for the 15th time in their last 16 games.

At Denver, Dennis Schroder had 19 points and 10 assists, Taurean Prince scored 16 and Atlanta ended a 10game road losing streak. The Hawks never trailed after the first quarter.
