Tide LB who assailed staffer heading to Tennessee State

Mekhi Brown, the Alabama player who went after an assistant coach on the sideline and had to be restrained by teammates during the College Football Playoff title game, said he will transfer to Tennessee State.

Brown, a linebacker who just completed his redshirt sophomore season, had applied and been admitted to Tennessee State more than a month before the title game, The Tennessean newspaper reported.

Brown was incensed after being flagged for unsportsma­nlike conduct in the 2623 overtime win over Georgia, triggering his sideline outburst in which he lunged at Alabama staff member Kerry Stevenson.

■ Washington: Running back Myles Gaskin, who has run for at least 1,300 yards in three straight seasons, said he will return to the Huskies for his senior year in 2018.

■ UCLA: Quarterbac­k K.J. Carta-samuels, who played in 25 games with Washington, plans to join the Bruins as a graduate transfer and will be eligible to play immediatel­y.

■ Tennessee: Quarterbac­k Quinten

Dormady, who lost his starting job and suffered a season ending injury as a junior in 2017, said he plans to transfer.

■ Clemson: Two-time All-america defensive tackle Christian Wilkins said he will return to the Tigers for his senior season in 2018.

■ Georgia: Linebacker Roquan Smith, the Butkus Award winner, said he will forego his senior season to enter the 2018 NFL draft.

■ North Carolina State: Redshirt senior quarterbac­k Jalan Mcclendon plans to play elsewhere next season as a graduate transfer.
