County coroner identifies victims in recent shootings

The Clark County coroner’s office has identified multiple people killed recently in the Las Vegas Valley.

Michelle Dupree, 43, and Charles Brooks Jr., 31, died in a Friday morning shooting in North Las Vegas. Neighbors told police they heard arguing just before Dupree and Brooks were shot about 5 a.m. at the Colonial Grand at Desert Vista apartments. North Las Vegas police arrested Dupree’s former companion, Caleb Perez Maxey, 50. He is being held on two counts of murder with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated stalking.

Juan Carlos Raya, 34, was gunned down Friday in a drive-by shooting in the western Las Vegas Valley, police said. Raya was walking on the sidewalk about 11:40 p.m. when someone in a vehicle shot at him, police said. He later died at University Medical Center.

David Parsons, 41, died in a strip mall parking lot of a gunshot wound to the chest. Metropolit­an Police Department homicide Lt. Dan Mcgrath said Parsons and the man who shot him, who as of Monday morning was not in custody, argued in the parking lot of Owens Plaza. As the other man got into his Dodge Charger to leave, Parsons approached the car, police said. The two struggled, and the shooter pulled the trigger. Police described the shooter as a black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall with braided hair and a medium build.
