Cincy streak of 16 wins ends in loss to Houston

Corey Davis Jr. and Devin Davis each scored 16 points, and Houston beat No. 5 Cincinnati 67-62 on Thursday to snap the nation’s longest win streak at 16 games.

Rob Gray added 13 points and Armoni Brooks 12 for the Cougars (20-5, 10-3 American Athletic), who posted their second win this season over a top-10 team after beating thenno. 7 Wichita State on Jan. 20.

Jacob Evans had 16 points to lead four scorers in double figures for the Bearcats (233, 12-1), who shot 39 percent.

At San Francisco, Frankie Ferrari had 20 points, including a clinching layup with 58.5 seconds left, and seven assists for the Dons (15-13, 7-8 West Coast), who dealt the Gaels (24-4, 13-2) their second straight loss after a 19-game win streak.

At Tempe, Ariz., Deandre Ayton had 25 points and 16 rebounds for the Wildcats (21-6, 11-3 Pac-12), who built an 18-point lead before the Sun Devils (19-7, 7-7) went on a 31-6 halftimesp­anning run to go up by seven. The rivals traded baskets until Arizona scored seven straight points to lead 70-63 with 90 seconds left.

At Wichita, Kan., Shaquille Morris had 23 points and 13 rebounds, including a tiebreakin­g putback in the final two minutes, for the Shockers (20-5, 10-3 American Athletic), who trailed the Owls (15-11, 7-7) by 14 at halftime. home crowd to steal a 54-53 road win against the Pioneers on Thursday evening.

as some of the home fans were leaving.

Iyani Hayden had a team-high 14 points for Canyon Springs, which finishes with a 17-7 record.
