Pardee welcomes first family to Axis

Michael and Charles Barrack choose the Wall design

“It feels like we’re living in a tree house,” said Michael Barrack, describing the new home he and Charles Barrack recently moved into overlooking the Las Vegas Valley.

They were the first homebuyers in the new Pardee Homes Axis neighborhood, which features next level modern design on a terraced hillside just off Green Valley Parkway and south of Carnegie Street in Henderson.

With their dog, Lincoln, Michael and Charlie moved from their previous Pardee home to make room for aging parents to visit or stay.

“Originally, we were not looking for a home, but my parents are getting older, and our downstairs is perfect for a mother-in-law suite,” Michael said. They found much more than room for visitors in their Axis Wall plan, including a large yard for Lincoln, their 5-year-old rescue dog, who also has the run of the approximately 4,460-square-foot home, a celebration of the Southwest indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

Charlie’s favorite room is the expansive kitchen. “It’s set up remarkably and arranged beautifully for those of us who cook,” he said.

Michael likes the master bedroom with “sweeping vistas, cathedral ceilings and deck with one of the best views in the valley.”

“It’s just magical,” Michael said. Axis’ architecture is one of the most important reasons they chose their new home.

“Midcentury modern and modern have always spoken to us — we love the clean lines and angles — but there’s not a lot of inventory out there,” Michael said.

“Axis is uber-modern,” Charlie said. As second-time Pardee homebuyers, they said they were pleased to receive the same high degree of care throughout their purchasing and moving-in process.

“Pardee Homes has a great corporate culture, and it shows at all touch points,” Charlie said.

Pardee Homes has been building new homes in Southern Nevada for more than six decades.

Division President Klif Andrews said, “When we acquired the land where Axis is situated, we challenged ourselves and our team at Bassenian Lagoni Architects to design an ultra-luxury community showcasing ‘next level’ modern architecture.”

The result is six innovative, modern floor plans with bold names such as Sky, Blade, Frame and Wall featuring one- and two-story floor plans ranging from 3,062 to 4,448 square feet. Prices start from the low $800,000s.

The Wall model home features a fresh, contemporary interior by award-winning millennial designer Bobby Berk of Bobby Berk Interiors + Design, who took inspiration from the dramatic slot canyons of the American Southwest — an influence that is felt throughout.

The modern luxury Wall plan measures 4,448 square feet with four bedrooms and up to 5½ baths and is anchored by a vertical architectural blade almost 30 feet high and slicing diagonally through the home. A front courtyard entrance leads to the main entrance as well as another courtyard, gourmet kitchen, living area and a secluded secondary living area and bedroom suite. Variable windows, angles and stacking doors help create an architectural showpiece with ample indoor-outdoor living flexibility and stunning views from select homesites.

Frame at Axis measures 3,467 square feet in an expansive single-story design with dramatic 14-foot ceilings at the entry. Frame X adds a second story to the home and measures 4,046 square feet. Both offer up to four bedrooms and 4½ baths, and both feature views to the backyard that are framed by 16 feet of horizontal glass panels that can quickly disappear into a wall pocket, creating an indoor-outdoor vista.

Sky at Axis measures 3,062 square feet with three bedrooms and 3½ baths, and Sky X adds a second story and measures 3,761 square feet with four bedrooms and 4½ baths. Both the Sky and Sky X plans extend around a center courtyard that invites opportunities for indoor-outdoor living.

Design maven Yolanda Landrum of Yolanda Landrum Interior Design of El Segundo, California, put her mark on the Frame and Sky X model homes at Axis. Landrum’s award-winning work has been a staple for Pardee Homes in Nevada and Southern California for more than two decades.

The newest floor plan addition at Axis is Blade, a single-story design that measures 3,414 square feet with four bedrooms, 3½ baths with optional stacking pocket doors just beyond the great room and dining area that allow for indoor-outdoor living.
