11, the head of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce is traveling to Washington, D.C., to push for federal funding for the freeway.

Mary Beth Sewald, president and CEO of the Las Vegas chamber, is set to meet on Monday and Tuesday with Sen. Dean Heller, R-nev., and representatives of the White House and U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Sewald said she wants I-11 to receive a chunk of President Donald Trump’s

$1.5 billion infrastructure package, which calls for federal funds being leveraged with state and local dollars, with private sector partnerships.

Construction is underway on the first 15-mile segment of I-11 from Henderson to Boulder City, set to open by the end of this year. On a larger scale, I-11 is envisioned as a cross-border trade route from the Mexico border to Canada.

Although the route could take decades to build, Sewald said the new freeway could provide a much-needed direct link between Las Vegas and Phoenix. girlfriend, Lisa Ann Gori, 52, but repeatedly insisted it was an accident, a Metropolitan Police Department arrest report said.

Las Vegas police said they believe the couple argued because Gori wanted to drive the minivan, and she got out and walked on the median about 9:20 p.m. Feb. 17 at Las Vegas Boulevard South and Russell Road.

Crash investigators determined that the minivan’s gas pedal must have been “floored” for several seconds as it jumped the median, ran over Gori, continued to accelerate, spun off the median and came to rest on the opposite side of the street, the report said. Gori died at University Medical Center.
