Venus dominates Serena in third round at Indian Wells

Venus Williams defeated younger sister Serena 6-3, 6-4 in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, her first win in the sibling rivalry since 2014.

They played Monday for the first time since last year’s Australian Open final, when a pregnant Serena won her 23rd major title. Serena, who had 41 unforced errors Monday, owns a 17-12 edge in their meetings.

Hockey: The Arizona Coyotes granted coach Rick Tocchet a leave of absence while he deals with a family illness. No timetable was given for Tocchet’s return.
