UNLV baseball team tops Falcons, wins sixth in row

RBIS to lead UNLV to an 11-6 win over Air Force in a Mountain West baseball game Friday in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Alan Strong (4-0) worked around 10 hits to hold the Falcons (6-11, 1-3) to two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings as the 21st-ranked Rebels (17-2, 4-0) won their sixth straight.

Kyle Isbel went 4-for-6 with two RBIS for UNLV, which held a 17-13 edge in hits and led 8-3 after six innings.

UNLV women’s swimming and diving: At Columbus, Ohio, sophomore Sophia Carnevale placed 34th in the 100-yard breaststro­ke in 1 minute, 0.74 seconds, and senior Myka Fielding placed 42nd in 3-meter diving with 251.50 points at the NCAA Championsh­ips.

UNLV softball: At Albuquerqu­e, N.M., Chelsea Johnson hit a walk-off grand slam in the seventh inning to power New Mexico (7-19) to a 5-2 victory over the Rebels (17-8) in both teams’ Mountain West opener.

UNLV men’s tennis: At Fertitta Tennis Complex, Alexandr Cozbinov, Richard Solberg and Jordan Sauer won in singles and were part of a doubles victory for the Rebels (8-5) in their 5-2 triumph over Marquette (9-4).

CSN baseball: At Price, Utah, College of Southern Nevada had its 18-game win streak halted with a 5-2 loss to Utah State Eastern before the Coyotes (23-5, 5-1) rebounded with a 7-5 victory over the Golden Eagles (12-10, 7-3) in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doublehead­er.

CSN softball: At Lady Coyote Field, Kiana Burnett had three RBIS to lead College of Southern Nevada to a 9-2 win over Utah State Eastern as the Coyotes (10-10, 7-3) avenged a 13-3 loss to the Golden Eagles (10-10, 5-5) in the SWAC doublehead­er’s opener.
