Warriors’ Durant has broken rib

- The Associated Press

OAKLAND, Calif. — Kevin Durant will miss at least two weeks with a fractured rib on his right side, joining fellow AllStars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson on the injury list for the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

An MRI examination Friday for the NBA Finals MVP revealed the incomplete fracture, and the Warriors said Durant would be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Without their three All-stars, the Warriors lost for the third time in four games Friday, as Buddy Hield made three free throws over the final 27.5 seconds and totaled 22 points, seven assists and seven rebounds off the bench in Sacramento’s 98-93 win.

Durant said he got hit in the ribs Sunday at Minnesota and initially thought it was just a bruise, but he was sore the next couple of days. He played Wednesday against the Lakers and felt it again when he hustled to close out on the wing and “felt something stretch and pull.”

At Toronto, Demar Derozan hit the decisive shot in overtime and totaled 29 points for Toronto, which overcame an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit to tie a franchise record with its 11th straight win.

At Oklahoma City, Russell Westbrook had 16 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for his

22nd triple-double of the season for Oklahoma City, which capped a three-game season series sweep of Los Angeles.

At Los Angeles, Goran Dragic scored 30 points, including a go-ahead jumper in the final seconds that answered Kyle Kuzma’s 3-pointer that put Los Angeles up 91-90 with 1:23 left.

At Philadelphia, Joel Embiid had 24 points and a career-high 19 rebounds, and Robert Covington hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 35.4 seconds left for Philadelphia.
