Jets secure playoff berth with win over Predators

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Mark Scheifele scored the lone goal in a shootout as the Winnipeg Jets clinched a playoff spot with a 5-4 win over the Nashville Predators on Sunday.

The Jets are in the postseason for the first time since 2014-15 and the second time since their relocation from Atlanta before the 2011-12 season. The franchise hasn’t won a playoff series since 2007.

Jets rookie Kyle Connor scored a power-play goal and had two assists, giving him seven goals in six games. That includes two overtime goals in Winnipeg’s previous two games and gives him 29 on the season.

At Pittsburgh, Bryan Rust redirected a Sidney Crosby pass for a goal 2:25 into overtime as Pittsburgh capped its first season sweep of Philadelph­ia since 2006-07.

At Edmonton, Alberta, Hampus Lindholm scored 1:21 into overtime after Adam Henrique scored twice in the third period during Anaheim’s rally from a 3-1 deficit.

At St. Paul, Minn., Brad Marchand assisted on David Pastrnak’s second-period goal and scored 28 seconds into overtime, his eighth game-winner of the season.

Nic Dowd scored power-play goals for Vancouver, which dealt Dallas its eighth straight loss.
