Lue set for return to Cavs on Thursday

Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue is expected to resume his duties on Thursday against Washington, according to The Associated Press.

Lue, who has been away from the team since March 19 because of health issues, will be back on the bench when the Cavs host the Wizards.

Lue announced he was taking medical leave on March 19 after experienci­ng chest pains and other symptoms this season. The 40-year-old recently returned to the team in an advisory role but stayed behind the scenes during games at Quicken Loans

Arena.

Rhode Island: The University of Rhode Island promoted David Cox to men’s basketball coach. Cox served as associate head coach for the last four years under Dan Hurley, who left last month to become head coach at Connecticu­t.

Duke: Blue Devils freshman Trevon Duval is entering the NBA draft.

Duval announced his decision through the school and team spokesman Mike Degeorge said the point guard plans to hire an agent.

Miami: Hurricanes freshman guard Lonnie

Walker IV said he’s turning pro. Walker announced on Twitter that he’ll hire an agent, which would prevent him from returning to the Hurricanes, and plans to enter the NBA draft.

Kansas: Jayhawks NCAA tournament breakout star Malik Newman announced through the school that he is declaring for the draft and will hire an agent.
