Panthers LB Davis suspended four games for failed drug test
Carolina Panthers three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Thomas Davis said he has been suspended by the NFL and will miss the first four games of next season after testing positive for a banned substance.
Davis, 35, a former Walter Payton Man of the Year award winner, said he tested positive for an estrogen blocker. He said he has been taking the same supplements for the past seven or eight years and never had any issues.
A 13-year NFL veteran, Davis returned from three torn ACLS in the same knee to play in three straight Pro Bowls.
In other Panthers news, quarterback Cam Newton walked away unscathed Thursday after a dump truck hit his Ferrari in Atlanta, TMZ reported.
Bills: Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, 58, was moved out of the intensive care unit in his recovery from oral cancer surgery at Mount Sinai West in New York.
Redskins: Washington acquired quarterback Kevin Hogan and a sixth-round draft pick (No. 205 overall) from Cleveland for a sixth-round pick (No. 188).
Saints: Wide receiver Cameron Meredith signed an offer sheet with New Orleans that Chicago has the opportunity to match.
Raiders: Cornerback Senquez Golston and defensive end Armonty Bryant, both free agents, agreed to terms with Oakland.
Cowboys: Free-agent defensive end Kony Ealy, formerly of the New York Jets, agreed to a one-year deal with Dallas.
Broncos: Denver held a private workout for Southern California quarterback Sam Darnold in Los Angeles.
Rams: Cornerback Kayvon Webster, due to make $3 million in 2018, will be released, ESPN reported.
