Red Sox 14, Yankees 1 — At Boston, Mookie Betts hit a grand slam on a monster night, leading Chris Sale (1-0) and Boston to their ninth straight victory. Betts went 4 for 4, scoring five runs and driving in four.

Angels 11, Rangers 1 — At

Arlington, Texas, Mike Trout and Andrelton Simmons each homered, Albert Pujols had two more hits in his push to 3,000 and Los Angeles improved to 9-3 for the first time since 1982.

Twins 4, Astros 1 — At Minneapoli­s, Jake Odorizzi (1-0) grinded through six innings for his first win with Minnesota, leadoff man Brian Dozier walked a career-high four times and the Twins beat Houston.

Rays 6, White Sox 5 — At Chicago, Blake Snell (1-1) pitched one-hit ball and struck out 10 through six innings and Tampa Bay kept Chicago winless at home this season. The White Sox dropped to 0-5 at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Indians 2, Tigers 1 — At Cleveland, Roberto Perez hit a leadoff home run in the eighth inning against reliever Alex Wilson (0-2), lifting Cleveland to its ninth straight win over Detroit. Jose Ramirez’s two-out homer in the first put the Indians ahead.

Mariners 8, Royals 3 — At Kansas City, Mo., Felix Hernandez (2-1) pitched into the sixth inning, Guillermo Heredia homered and Seattle bounced back from a blowout loss to Kansas City. Ivan Nova (1-1) pitched seven solid innings, Francisco Cervelli hit a three-run homer and Pittsburgh ruined Chicago’s home opener. The Pirates’ 8-2 record is their best 10-game start since 1992.

Nationals 4, Braves 1 — At Washington, Stephen Strasburg (2-1) threw eight scoreless innings, Ryan Zimmerman had a two-run triple and Washington beat Atlanta. Strasburg didn’t allow a runner past second base.

Giants 5, Diamondbac­ks 4 — At

San Francisco, Andrew Mccutchen hit a walkoff single with the bases loaded to score Kelby Tomlinson and San Francisco snapped a two-game losing streak.

Padres 5, Rockies 2 — At Denver, Joey Lucchesi (1-0) got his first major league win thanks to a go-ahead three-run homer from Hunter Renfroe in the seventh inning, and San Diego beat Colorado.

Phillies 6, Reds 1 — At Philadelph­ia, Aaron Nola (1-0) pitched eight stellar innings and Scott Kingery hit a grand slam, leading Philadelph­ia to its fourth win in five games.
