Gary Sanchez hit a three-run double in the eighth for the Yankees.

Twins 4, White Sox 0 — At Minneapoli­s, Joe Mauer had two hits and three RBIS to reach 2,000 career hits, and Jose Berrios (2-1) blanked Chicago on three hits and struck out 11 over seven innings. Mauer became the third Minnesota player, joining Rod Carew and Kirby Puckett, and 12th active player with 2,000 hits.

Indians 9, Tigers 3 — At Cleveland, Francisco Lindor hit a leadoff home run and a two-run double to back Trevor

Bauer (1-1), who held Detroit to two runs and struck out seven over seven innings, as Cleveland capped a four-game sweep with its 11th straight win over the Tigers. in the third was the lone San Diego hit off Chris Stratton (1-1) and Derek Law.
