At Anaheim, Calif., Gary Sanchez hit a 447-foot two-run homer in the fourth to back CC Sabathia (2-0), who allowed one run over seven innings, as New York won its ninth straight.

At Boston, Sandy Leon hit a go-ahead RBI single with two outs in the eighth off closer Alex Colome (2-3) as Boston halted Tampa Bay’s eight-game win streak.

At Baltimore, substitute starter Pedro Alvarez homered twice, and Trey Mancini hit a leadoff shot for Baltimore, which won its first series of the season.

At Toronto, Kevin Pillar, Teoscar Hernandez and Yangervis Solarte homered to back J.A. Happ (4-1), who pitched seven innings in helping Toronto halt a fourgame skid.

At Houston, George Springer and Jose Altuve drove in two runs apiece to back Gerrit Cole, who struck out 12 and walked none over 6 2/3 innings.
