Cubs 14, Marlins 2 — At Chicago, Ian Happ hit a two-run homer righthande­d in the fourth and a three-run shot left-handed in the seventh, and Kris Bryant and Javier Baez also went deep for Chicago, which halted a five-game slide. The Cubs lit up Jarlin Garcia (1-1), who entered with a majors-best 1.09 ERA, for seven runs over four innings. Baez left in the sixth with groin tightness.

Mets 7, Reds 6 — At Cincinnati,

Jay Bruce hit a two-run homer against his former team, rounding the bases to a familiar BRUUUUUUCE chant, and Adrian Gonzalez added two solo shots for New York, which halted a six-game slide. Mets starter P.J. Conlon, called up Sunday from the 51s, allowed three runs on four hits over 3 2/3 innings in his major league debut.

Nationals 8, Padres 5 — At San Diego, Matt Adams hit a two-run homer in the sixth and a three-run shot in the seventh for Washington, and former San Diego first-round draft pick Trea Turner homered in his first at-bat in Petco Park. Turner, who never played for the Padres, walked leading off the sixth and scored the go-ahead run on Anthony Rendon’s double to left.

Phillies 11, Giants 0 — At Philadelph­ia, Odubel Herrera hit a threerun homer and two-run shot, reaching base in his 36th straight game dating to last season, Carlos Santana homered and totaled four RBIS, and Zach Eflin (1-0) blanked San Francisco on four hits and three walks and struck out a career-high nine in 6 2/3 innings.
