Astros 4, Athletics 1 — At Oakland, Calif., Gerrit Cole (4-1) struck out nine to raise his major league-leading total to 86, and Houston completed a three-game sweep of Oakland. The Astros have won 10 of their last 12 road games.
Rangers 5, Tigers 4, 10 innings — At Arlington, Texas, Nomar Mazara led off the 10th inning with his second homer of the game, giving the Texas its first winning home series this season. It was Mazara’s first career game-ending homer.
Orioles 5, Royals 3 — At Baltimore,
Mark Trumbo delivered a tiebreaking tworun single in the eighth inning, Chris Davis homered and Baltimore ended a seven-game losing streak.
Blue Jays 5, Mariners 2 — At Toronto, Yangervis Solarte hit a game-tying double in the eighth inning and Justin Smoak followed with a go-ahead double as Toronto rallied to beat Seattle. Carlos Santana had three hits and five RBIS, Nick Pivetta (2-2) struck out seven in five scoreless innings and Philadelphia improved to 20-11 since a 1-4 start.
Padres 2, Nationals 1 — At San Diego, Matt Szczur hit a go-ahead RBI double in the seventh inning and San Diego’s bullpen pitched four scoreless innings to lift the Padres to a win to close their series with Washington.
Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 3 — At Los Angeles, Yasiel Puig had three hits and scored two runs, and Los Angeles split a two-game series with Arizona. Chase Utley drove in two runs for the Dodgers as a pinch-hitter.
