Twins 4, Tigers 2 — At Minneapolis, Logan Morrison forced in the go-ahead run by drawing a four-pitch walk in the eighth after striking out in his first three at-bats, backing Jose Berrios (5-4), who held Detroit to two runs on three hits and two walks and struck out nine over eight innings.
Orioles 3, White Sox 2 — At Chicago, Manny Machado, Adam Jones and Mark Trumbo homered off Hector Santiago (0-2) to back Andrew Cashner (2-5), who allowed two runs in five innings. Reliever Mychal Givens inherited a second-and-third, no-out jam in the sixth and held Chicago scoreless. innings.
Phillies 3, Braves 0 — At Philadelphia, Nick Williams and Aaron Altherr homered to back Nick Pivetta, who allowed four hits and struck out seven over seven shutout innings, as Philadelphia moved a half-game behind Atlanta atop the NL East. Mike Foltynewicz allowed one run over six innings for the Braves.
Brewers 4, Diamondbacks 2 — At Milwaukee, Travis Shaw, Domingo Santana and Lorenzo Cain homered off Zack
Greinke (3-3), who struck out nine and walked none over six innings, as Arizona lost its fifth straight. Chase Anderson (4-3) held the Diamondbacks to two runs on three hits over six innings.
Mets 2, Marlins 0 — At New York, Jason Vargas (1-3) blanked Miami on two hits and struck out seven over five innings after having his previous rotation turn skipped because of three sloppy outings, and A.J. Ramos escaped a bases-loaded jam created by two other New York relievers in the sixth.
