Mariners 2, Rays 1 — At Seattle, Felix Hernandez (6-4) held Tampa Bay to one run over eight innings as Seattle capped a three-game sweep. Blake Snell struck out the Mariners’ first seven batters and worked six shutout innings with 12 strikeouts.

Red Sox 9, Astros 3 — At Houston, Mitch Moreland had a two-run homer among his three hits, and Andrew Benintendi also went deep to back Rick Porcello (8-2), who held Houston to two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings.

Athletics 5, Royals 1 — At Kansas City, Mo., Matt Olson hit a three-run homer in the eighth, capping a three-game set in which he went 5-for-11 with three home runs, eight RBIS and five runs.

Angels 3, Rangers 1 — At Anaheim, Calif., Tyler Skaggs (4-4) blanked Texas on four hits over six innings, and Luis Valbuena’s two-run double was one of four hits by Los Angeles.

Blue Jays 8, Tigers 4 — At Detroit, Justin Smoak’s home run in the sixth broke a scoreless tie, and he finished with three hits and three RBIS for Toronto, which halted a five-game slide. Francisco, Dereck Rodriguez (1-0) posted his first win in the majors, giving up a home run to Jake Arrieta (5-3) but outpitchin­g the Philadelph­ia ace over six innings, as San Francisco capped a three-game sweep.

Diamondbac­ks 6, Marlins 1 — At Phoenix, Matt Koch (4-3) shut out Miami on three hits over seven innings, and David Peralta homered for the third straight game for Arizona, which moved back atop the NL West.

Dodgers 10, Rockies 7 — At Denver, Max Muncy homered twice for Los Angeles, and Yasmani Grandal hit a solo shot in the Dodgers’ three-run ninth as they rallied from five down to cap a three-game sweep.

Braves 4, Nationals 2 — At Atlanta, pinch hitter Charlie Culberson hit a walk-off two-run homer in the ninth, his second walk-off homer in a week and fourth among his eight career home runs.

Cubs2,mets0— At New York, Jon Lester (6-2) shut out New York on two hits over seven innings, and Javier Baez stole home in the seventh to break a scoreless tie as Chicago capped a four-game sweep.

Padres 6, Reds 3 — At San Diego, Hunter Renfroe had a go-ahead grand slam in the fifth while pinch hitting for Tyson Ross (5-3), who allowed two runs over five innings.
