Northern Nevada’s Gigafactory

Nevada gave Tesla a tax incentive package in 2014 amounting to $1.3 billion to build a factory in Storey County east of Reno.

The batteries for the Model 3 are currently being produced in the Nevada Gigafactory. The Tesla factory has cost the companies involved over $3.27 billion so far.

In 2014 Tesla estimated it would need 6,500 employees in the Gigafactory by 2024. As of last September, according to the latest company audit released in April, the Gigafactory project had 2,417 workers, 1,636 of whom worked for Tesla.
