Bronchial bug cancels Manilow’s shows

Bhad planned to be in a showroom this weekend. Instead, it’s a hospital room.

Manilow fell ill Wednesday night as he prepped for his “Manilow Las Vegas — The Hits Come Home” premiere scheduled for Thursday night at Westgate Las Vegas’ International Theater.

The pop superstar was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital, has been diagnosed with a bronchial infection and is being treated with antibiotics.

Thus, Manilow’s shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Westgate are canceled.

“I can’t believe this is happening,” Manilow said in a statement Thursday. “Our new show is ready, we’re all ready, and we were all looking forward to tonight.”

Manilow is expected to be released in a few days and return to his regular schedule for shows on June 21-23. His show debuted in previews on May 24.

Manilow’s premiere shows this weekend were to line up with his 75th birthday, which is Sunday.

Westgate Resorts founder and Chief Executive Officer David Siegel said: “The entire Westgate family wishes Barry a speedy recovery, and we know that he will dazzle audiences when his show resumes on June 21.”

In Manilow’s absence, Clint Holmes and Earl Turner will perform their co-headlining “Soundtrack” show at International Theater at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Holmes and Turner scrambled to alert musicians to show up for rehearsals and sound check just as Manilow announced the cancellations.

Ticketholders for the Manilow shows can use those tickets for “Soundtrack,” and

also see a future Manilow performance at Westgate. Or, they can request refunds at the point of purchase.

The hits just keep on comin’

Blink-182, the first punk band to perform in residency in Las Vegas, has canceled this weekend’s shows at Pearl Concert Theater.

Travisbarker , the band’s extraordinary drummer, is reportedly suffering from blood clots in both arms and has been advised by doctors to stay off the stage.

Barker’s health is being monitored, and there is no formal word of when he’ll be back in action. The band is scheduled to return June 23-24.

Tickets can be exchanged for future “Kings of the Weekend” performances. Refunds are offered at the point of purchase.

VGK hysteria action

Minutes after they saluted several thousand fans at 3rd Street Stage on Fremont Street in their “Stick Salute to Vegas,” members of the Vegas Golden Knights made their way to dinner Wednesday night at The D Las Vegas.

It was not easy.

The Golden Knights — The Beatles of Las Vegas sports teams — were mobbed inside the casino as they attempted to walk from the street-side entrance to the elevators leading to Andiamo Italian Steakhouse. Trust me on this one: I had to tail a security officer to make a path from the hotel’s Longbar across the casino floor to the escalators.

“Are you with the team?” asked one young woman, who seemed about to close in for a selfie. Another fan mistook a hotel official for General Manager George Mcphee, shouting to the man with the D Las Vegas nametag, “You’re GM

By mail:

of the year!”

More than a dozen members of the team did reach their dining destination. They are certainly familiar with the surroundings. The D is the official downtown hotel of the Golden Knights, as resort co-owner Derek Stevens lived through similar adulation in his days in Detroit, where the Red Wings are kings of the ice.

The D will host the preseason “Fan Fest” party set for September, after hosting the first Fan Fest this season. The hotel also operates Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, site of several official VGK watch parties. Those events have drawn 5,000 fans to the outdoor party parcel. Wednesday’s event drew an estimated 7,500 to 3rd Street Stage between the Fremont Street Experience space surrounded by The D, Four Queens and Fremont hotels.

Those who attended the team dinner at Andiamo have become familiar Las Vegans: Alex Tuch, James Neal, Jonathan Marchessault, Nate Schmidt, Erik Haula, Luca Sbisa, Cody Eakin, Brayden Mcnabb, Reilly Smith, Shea Theodore, Malcolm Subban, Oscar Dansk, William Karlsson and Jon Merrill.

It became evident pretty quickly the team’s ringleader and unofficial ambassador for such events is forward Tuch, a buddy of D exec Richard Wilk (who has been a busy individual over the past few days, with his 50th “Sopranos”-themed birthday party Saturday night) and a frequenter of the hotel.

“They call me The Mayor,” Tuch said upon introduction. “Mayor Tuch.”
