Longoria out six weeks with broken left finger

San Francisco third baseman Evan Longoria was diagnosed with a fractured fifth metacarpal on his lefthandaf­terbeinghi­tbyapitch from Miami righthande­r Dan Straily in the fourth inning of the Giants’ 6-3, 16-inning win Monday.

Longoria, 32, who said he will decide in the next few days if he will need surgery, is expected to miss six weeks. He played in at least 156 games in each of the previous five seasons. A three-time All-star in 10 seasons with Tampa Bay, Longoria was traded to the Giants on Dec.

20. He is hitting .246 with 10 home runs and 34 RBIS this season.

Twins: Corner infielder Miguel Sano was optioned to Class-a Fort Myers and outfielder Jake Cave to Triple-a Rochester to make room for first baseman Joe Mauer (neck strain, concussion symptoms) to be activated from the disabled list and utility player Taylor Motter to be recalled from Rochester.

Sano, an All-star in 2017, is batting .203, including .148 in his past seven games. He last played in the Florida State League in 2013.

Athletics: Trevor Cahill (right Achilles strain) was placed on the 10-day disabled list, fellow right-hander Chris Bassitt and right-handed reliever Carlos Ramirez were recalled from Nashville, and left-handed reliever Daniel Coulombe was optioned to the Triple-a club. Also, third baseman Matt Chapman, who has yet to miss a game this season, sustained a right hand contusion in Oakland’s loss to Houston and went for an MRI examinatio­n.

Rockies: Right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino (left oblique strain) was activated from the disabled list, and left-handed reliever Jerry Vasto was optioned to Triple-a Albuquerqu­e.

Nationals: Mark Lerner, 64, replaced 92-year-old father Ted Lerner as Washington’s managing principal owner. Ted Lerner, a real estate magnate, had controlled the Nationals since his family bought the team from MLB in 2006.

Diamondbac­ks: Left-handed reliever Jorge De La Rosa (right Achilles bursitis) was activated from the disabled list, and righthande­d reliever Silvino Bracho was optioned to Triple-a Reno.

Rangers: Left-hander Yohander Mendez will be recalled from Round Rock to start Friday, and infielder Hanser Alberto was optioned to the Triple-a club.

Indians: Brandon Guyer (neck strain) was activated from the disabled list, and fellow outfielder Melky Cabrera was designated for assignment.
