Indians’ Carrasco lands on DL, slated for more tests on elbow

Cleveland Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco will undergo additional tests on his bruised right elbow after he was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday.

The right-hander was struck by Joe Mauer’s line drive in the second inning of Saturday’s loss to Minnesota. Carrasco will have imaging procedures Monday to determine if he sustained more serious damage.

Also, left-handed reliever Tyler Olson (back strain) was placed on the 10-day DL, and right-hander Shane Bieber and right-handed reliever Evan Marshall were recalled from Triple-a Columbus.

Royals: Second baseman/outfielder

Whit Merrifield exited in the second inning of Kansas City’s loss to Houston after fouling a ball off his left knee. He was diagnosed with a contusion and is considered day to day. Also, right fielder Jorge Soler (left foot fracture) was placed on the 10-day disabled list, infielder Adalberto Mondesi, outfielder Rosell Herrera and right-handed reliever Wily Peralta were recalled from Omaha, and right-handed reliever Scott Barlow and infielder Ramon Torres were optioned to the Triple-a club.

Braves: Catcher Kurt Suzuki exited Atlanta’s win over San Diego in the second inning after he was struck on his helmet by Raffy Lopez’s bat on a big swing followthro­ugh. Manager Brian Snitker said Suzuki is day to day. Also, Luiz Gohara was optioned to Triple-a Gwinnett, and fellow right-hander Luke Jackson was re-signed to a major league contract after being designated for assignment Wednesday.

Brewers: Reliever Adrian Houser vomited behind the mound while warming up in the eighth inning of Milwaukee’s loss to Philadelph­ia. The right-hander stayed in and faced two batters before vomiting a second time. He again remained on the mound and faced three more hitters to end the inning.

Also, right-hander Zach Davies (inflamed right rotator cuff) is to make a rehabilita­tion start Tuesday with Triple-a Colorado Springs.

Rangers: Right-hander Yovani Gallardo’s contract was selected from Round Rock, lefthanded reliever Brandon Mann was optioned to the Triple-a club, and right-hander Doug Fister (right knee strain) was transferre­d to the 60day disabled list.

Nationals: First baseman Matt Adams

(left hand contusion) was held out of Washington’s lineup for a second straight game after being hit by a pitch Friday while attempting to bunt.

Blue Jays: Outfielder Steve Pearce (left oblique strain) went 2-for-2 with a walk in his second rehabilita­tion game with Triple-a Buffalo after going 1-for-3 with a walk Saturday.

Tigers: Left-handed reliever Daniel

Stumpf (left ulnar nerve irritation) is to begin a rehabilita­tion assignment Tuesday with Triple-a Toledo.

Athletics: Josh Lucas was recalled from Nashville, and fellow right-handed reliever Carlos Ramirez was optioned to the Triple-a club.

Orioles: Chance Sisco was optioned to Norfolk, and fellow catcher Caleb Joseph will be recalled Tuesday from the Triple-a club.

Rays: Shortstop Adeiny Hechavarri­a (right hamstring strain) was activated from the disabled list.
