Pruitt unfit to lead the EPA

-

Scott Pruitt is under investigation for multiple ethical violations as head of the Environmental Protection Agency. All that and his blatant disregard for the agency he is supposed to run should be clear cause for his resignation.

Pruitt has undermined scientific advisory boards, slashed funding for vital research and attempted to censor peer-reviewed research to downplay threats of climate change and dangerous chemicals. He’s gone so far as to censor science. He continues close relationships with oil and gas companies, even asking for and accepting their suggestions to stave off regulations that affect fossil fuel industries — and our health. He also doesn’t support efforts to limit carbon pollution, improve air quality and save thousands of lives of people who suffer from respiratory illnesses.

He does support the rollback of auto emissions standards. Smog is not attractive or healthy. Why would we want to go backwards?

Protection is part of the EPA’S name. If companies and communities naturally did the right thing when it comes to pollution, we wouldn’t need a watchdog like the EPA. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. We need a strong and fully funded EPA to ensure our air and water are pure, and to know we are creating a brighter, cleaner environment for families and future generations.
