QB Winston suspended for personal conduct violation

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbac­k Jameis Winston was suspended for the first three games of 2018 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Winston’s punishment comes in the wake of a lengthy NFL investigat­ion into allegation­s that he groped a female Uber driver in March 2016 in Scottsdale, Arizona, with evidence gleaned from electronic devices and other communicat­ions.

Television: Terry Mcaulay will serve as an on-air rules analyst for NBC’S “Sunday Night Football” and work Notre Dame football games for NBC, and fellow recently retired referee Gene Steratore will join CBS as a rules analyst for the NFL and college basketball.

Panthers: The NFL fined outgoing owner Jerry Richardson $2.75 million after an investigat­ion into workplace misconduct for three cases of sexual harassment and the use of a racial slur toward an African-american team scout.

Giants: William H. Jenkins, 34, the brother of cornerback Janoris Jenkins, had an alleged altercatio­n in his brother’s New Jersey home that led to the death of Roosevelt Rene, 25, the Bergen County prosecutor’s office said.

Draft: Cornerback Sam Beal, one of four players available in the July 11 supplement­al draft, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds and had a vertical jump of 37 inches at his pro day at Western Michigan.

Jaguars: Defensive tackle Marcell Dareus attended a ground-breaking ceremony to begin a three-classroom building in Haiti that will be named in his honor after he donated $125,000 to fund the structure.

Officiatin­g: Clay Martin, who spent the past three seasons as an umpire, was promoted to referee, in the wake of four referees retiring this offseason.
