Rays 3, Astros 2 — Atst. Petersburg, Fla., Wilmer Font (2-3) held Houston to one run on one hit over fiveplus innings before a right lat strain forced his exit as the Astros’ 11-game road win streak ended.

Rangers 11, White Sox 3 — At Arlington, Texas, Shin-soo Choo reached base for the 41st straight game and, along with Bishop Gorman product Joey Gallo, homered in the third as the Rangers totaled five home runs in the first three innings.

Angels 7, Orioles 1 — At Baltimore, Mike Trout and Martin Maldonado homered, and Andrelton Simmons added four hits to back Felix Pena (1-0), who pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings, as Los Angeles halted a six-game skid.

Mariners 4, Royals 1 — At Seattle, Mitch Haniger and Mike Zunino homered to back Marco Gonzales (8-5), who allowed six hits and no walks while striking out seven in his first career complete game.

Athletics 3, Indians 1 — At Oakland, Calif., Paul Blackburn (2-2), who had a 12.70 ERA in his previous three starts, shut out Cleveland on three hits over 6 1/3 innings as Oakland won its fifth straight.

Blue Jays 3, Tigers 2 — At Toronto, Justin Smoak hit a two-run homer to back Marcus Stroman (1-5), who allowed two runs over seven innings to hand Detroit its 10th straight loss. Phoenix, Austin Slater hit RBI doubles in the second and seventh and also singled to back rookie Andrew Suarez (3-4), who allowed one run over six innings to halt Arizona’s three-game win streak.

Marlins 8, Mets 2 — At Miami, J.T. Riddle hit a three-run homer, and Lewis Brinson homered among his three hits to back Sandy Alcantara (1-0), who allowed one run over five innings to win his first major league start.

Brewers 8, Reds 2 — At Cincinnati, Keon Broxton hit a two-run homer, a solo shot and an RBI single to back Chase Anderson (6-6), who allowed one run on two hits over six innings.

Braves 5, Cardinals 1 — At St. Louis, Johan Camargo had a two-run double among his three hits to back Julio Teheran (6-5), who allowed two hits and two walks over six shutout innings.

Pirates 6, Padres 3 — At San Diego, Gregory Polanco hit a two-run double to cap Pittsburgh’s four-run third and back Joe Musgrove (3-3), who allowed seven hits over seven shutout innings.
