51s to begin accepting deposits for new park

-

For those looking to jump on the new Summerlin baseball field next year, Monday is your day.

The 51s announced that season ticket deposits for the Las Vegas Ballpark opening next year will begin Monday at 10 a.m.

Season ticket deposits start at $100 per seat, which would reserve a spot for season ticket purchases down the road. Club seating and group event deposits are also being accepted for the same price.

Those who make a deposit will be able to select their season tickets after current 51s season ticket holders. Priority will be based on time and date of the deposit. Deposits will be allowed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Current 51s season ticket holders do not need to place a deposit.

NHL: Montreal defenseman Shea Weber will be out for for five to six months after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

It’s the second surgery this year for Weber, who had a torn tendon in his left foot repaired in March.

WNBA: At Minneapolis, Rebekkah Brunson grabbed 12 rebounds to become the leading rebounder in WNBA history, helping the Minnesota Lynx beat the Los Angeles Sparks 83-72.

Brunson began the game in third place with 3,306 rebounds. She passed Lisa Leslie (3,307) early on and Tamika Catchings (3,316) in the fourth quarter.

NBA: A person familiar with the negotiations said Nemanja Bjelica has agreed to a one-year contract with Philadelphia worth nearly $4.5 million.

Bjelica shot 42 percent from 3-point range last season with Minnesota, his best clip in his three NBA years.

Kansas athletics: Kansas hired former Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long to lead its department. Long signed a fiveyear, fully guaranteed contract that will pay $1.5 million annually.

He takes over for Sheahon Zenger, who was fired in May after struggling to turn around the Jayhawks’ football program and failing to build support for muchneeded stadium renovations.
