All-star closer Aroldis Chapman got three outs for his 25th save — in his first appearance since Saturday because of a sore left knee.

Athletics 6, Astros 4 — At Houston, Mark Canha hit a two-run single in a three-run eighth inning as Oakland defeated Houston and improved to 19-5 in its last 24 games.

The A’s took three of four from the AL West-leading Astros.

Angels 11, Mariners 2 — At Anaheim, Calif., Albert Pujols hit two home runs, and Los Angeles beat up Seattle. Mariners starter James Paxton left with back stiffness in the first inning.

Twins 5, Rays 1 — At Minneapoli­s, Kyle Gibson struck out nine batters over eight easy innings, and Minnesota handed Tampa Bay ace Blake Snell his shortest start of the season.

Nationals 5, Mets 4 — At New York, Max Scherzer made a final pitch to start the All-star Game on his own mound with a solid outing, Anthony Rendon hit two homers, and Bryce Harper also connected, leading Washington over New York.

Dodgers 3, Padres 2 — At San

Diego, Ross Stripling pitched six scoreless innings, and Los Angeles got a trio of RBI singles in the seventh inning and held on to beat the Padres.

Rockies 5, Diamondbac­ks 1 — At Denver, Gerardo Parra and Raimel Tapia had pinch-hit RBI singles in Colorado’s three-run sixth inning on the way to a win over Arizona.

Pirates 6, Brewers 3 — At Pittsburgh, — Jameson Taillon had a career-high 10 strikeouts, Jordy Mercer tied his career best with four RBIS, and Pittsburgh defeated Milwaukee.

Phillies 5, Orioles 4 — At Baltimore, Jorge Alfaro homered and drove in three runs, Nick Pivetta took a three-hitter into the seventh inning, and Philadelph­ia beat Baltimore.
