Fanduel Group to start online sports betting, internet casino

Fanduel Group said it will launch online sports betting and an internet casino in New Jersey, hopefully in time for the start of football season.

Fanduel, which is owned mostly by Irelandbas­ed Paddy Power Betfair, will provide online sports betting with the license of the Meadowland­s Racetrack and internet gambling through its licensing affiliatio­n with Atlantic City’s Golden Nugget casino.

Cycling: At La Rosiere, France, British rider Geraint Thomas won the first summit finish of the Tour de France and claimed the yellow jersey, with four-time champion Chris Froome moving up to second overall, 1 minute, 25 seconds behind Thomas, his Team Sky teammate.

Golf: At Dragonridg­e Country Club, UNLV commit Veronica Joels shot 69-73—142 to win the Nevada State Women’s Golf Associatio­n Stroke Play championsh­ip division. Joels finished at 2 under to win by 11 strokes over runner-up Connie Isler, who shot 7578—153.

Motor sports: At Rossburg, Ohio, Chase Briscoe held off Grant Enfinger by 0.38 seconds in an overtime shootout in the Eldora Dirt Derby at Eldora Speedway in Briscoe’s first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start since winning last year’s season finale.

Hockey: Center Chris Tierney, 24, who had career highs of 17 goals and 23 assists while playing in all 82 regular-season games for San Jose in 2017-18, re-signed with the Sharks on a two-year deal with an average annual value of $2.9375 million.

Basketball: Three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade signed a lifetime contract with the Chinese apparel company Li-ning that is believed to be valued at tens of millions of dollars.
