Montreal gets Manziel in trade with Hamilton

Johnny Manziel is headed to the Montreal Alouettes in a reunion with Mike Sherman, the coach who recruited him to Texas A&M.

The Canadian Football League team acquired the former Heisman Trophy winner and two other players from the Hamilton TigerCats for two players and two firstround draft picks.

Montreal (1-4), which has scored a Cfl-low 69 points and allowed a league-high 148, was down to its third-string quarterbac­k because of injuries. Manziel had yet to play in the regular season for Hamilton as a backup to Jeremiah Masoli.

Giants: Saquon Barkley, the No. 2 pick in his year’s NFL draft, came to terms on his four-year rookie deal, worth a reportedly guaranteed $31.2 million, making him the NFL’S fourth-highest paid running back behind Le’veon Bell, Devonta Freeman and Lesean Mccoy.

Titans: Right tackle Jack Conklin, Tennessee’s first-round draft pick in 2016 who sustained a torn ACL in last season’s playoffs, was placed on the physically unabletope­rformlist.

Vikings: Rookie cornerback Mike Hughes, Minnesota’s firstround draft pick, made good on his promise of buying a home for his mother from the money made on his first contract.

Colts: Linebacker Darius Leonard, a second-round draft pick, agreed to the terms of his rookie deal, putting all 11 members of Indianapol­is’ draft class under contract.

Ravens: Guard Cameron

Lee, 24, released by Chicago in May after spending last season with the Bears, New Orleans and Cincinnati, signed with Baltimore.

Patriots: New England signed running back Sony Michel, its first-round draft pick. the final after defeating daughter Courtney Force in a semifinal for his first victory since March 2017.

Leah Pritchett won in Top Fuel, Greg Anderson in Pro Stock and Hector Arana Jr. in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

Formula One: At Hockenheim, Germany, Lewis Hamilton regained the series championsh­ip lead in unexpected and dramatic fashion, winning the German Grand Prix after Sebastian Vettel crashed while leading with 15 laps left, misjudging a basic entry into a turn in heavy rain.
