UNLV product part of Twins’ haul from Arizona for Escobar

The Arizona Diamondbac­ks acquired switchhitt­ing infielder Eduardo Escobar from the Minnesota Twins on Friday for three minor leaguers: UNLV product Ernie De La Trinidad, fellow outfielder Gabriel Maciel and right-hander Jhoan Duran.

Escobar, 29, hit .274 with 15 home runs, 63 RBIS and a majorsbest 37 doubles in 97 games this season, his seventh with the Twins. He has played third base, shortstop and second base.

All three minor leaguers acquired by the Twins were with Kane County of the Class-a Midwest League.

De La Trinidad, 22, is hitting .311 with eight homers, 56 RBIS, six steals, 48 strikeouts and 45 walks through 91 games this season. A 19th-round draft pick out of UNLV last year, the Phoenix native batted .361 for the Rebels in 2017.

Maciel, 19, is hitting .287 with 10 doubles one home run, 16 RBIS and 14 steals through 68 games. Duran, 20, is 5-4 with a 4.73 ERA in 15 starts.

Arizona also placed third baseman Jake Lamb (left shoulder contusion) on the 10day disabled list and recalled infielder Ildemaro Vargas from Triple-a Reno. The Twins recalled corner infielder Miguel Sano from Triple-a Rochester.

Phillies: Philadelph­ia acquired infielder Asdrubal Cabrera from the New York Mets for pitching prospect Franklyn Kilome.

Cabrera, 32, split time at second base, third base and shortstop last season. He’s played primarily at second this year, hitting .277 with 18 home runs and 58 RBIS. Kilome, 23, a right-hander, was 4-6 with a 4.24 ERA for Double-a Reading this season.

Mariners: Seattle acquired right-handed reliever Sam Tuivailala from St. Louis for pitching prospect Seth Elledge. Tuivailala, 25, has a 3.69 ERA in 31 games this season. Elledge, 22, a righthande­r ranked Seattle’s No. 10 prospect, was 5-1 with a 1.17 ERA, nine saves and 54 strikeouts over 38 1/3 innings with Class-a Modesto this season.

Cardinals: Left-handed reliever Brett Cecil (inflamed right foot) was placed on the 10-day disabled list, right-hander Luke Weaver was recalled from Low-a Peoria, right-hander Daniel Poncedeleo­n and left-hander Tyler Webb were recalled from Triple-a Memphis, right-hander Dakota Hudson’s contract was purchased from Memphis, and right-handed reliever Greg Holland and left-handed reliever Tyler Lyons were designated for assignment.

Astros: Houston acquired right-handed reliever Ryan Pressly from Minnesota for two minor leaguers: right-hander Jorge Alcala and outfielder Gilberto Celestino. Pressly, 29, has a 3.40 ERA and 69 strikeouts over 47 2/3 innings this season. Alcala, 22, is ranked Houston’s No. 10 prospect and Celestino, 19, No. 15.

Rangers: Texas received right-hander

Eddie Butler, pitching prospect Rollie Lacy and a player to be named from the Chicago Cubs for left-hander Cole Hamels. Butler, 27, had a 4.08 ERA with the Cubs this season. Lacy, 23, a righthande­r, has a 2.45 ERA across two Class-a levels.

Brewers: Milwaukee acquired two-time All-star third baseman Mike Moustakas, 29, from Kansas City for outfielder Brett Phillips, 24, and right-handed reliever Jorge Lopez, 25.

Reds: Right-hander Keury Mella and lefthanded reliever Wandy Peralta were recalled from Louisville, and right-handed reliever Austin Brice was optioned to the Triple-a club.

Mets: Austin Jackson signed a one-year contract, and fellow outfielder Matt den Dekker was designated for assignment.
