Red Sox 3, Twins 0 — At Boston, Nathan Eovaldi (4-4) allowed four hits over seven shutout innings in his first Boston start, and J.D. Martinez had two hits and drove in three runs, upping his major league-best RBI total to 89.
Yankees 6, Royals 3 — At New
York, J.A. Happ (11-6) allowed one run on three hits over six innings in his New York debut, and Aaron Hicks’ three hits for the Yankees included a two-run homer.
Indians 8, Tigers 1 — At Detroit, Yonder Alonso, Melky Cabrera and Edwin Encarnacion homered, and Rajai Davis added a triple and two doubles to back Corey Kluber (13-6), who allowed one run over 7⅓ innings.
Mariners 8, Angels 5 — At
Anaheim, Calif., Mike Zunino hit a two-run double in Seattle’s seven-run first and an RBI double in the third to back Marco Gonzales (12-5), who allowed two runs in six innings.
Orioles 11, Rays 5 — At Baltimore, Chris Davis hit two two-run homers, and Adam Jones added three hits and an RBI for Baltimore, upping his average to .417 during his seven-game hitting streak.
Blue Jays 7, White Sox 4 — At Chicago, Brandon Drury hit a go-ahead two-run double in Toronto’s five-run ninth after Teoscar Hernandez hit a tying home run in the inning. Jose Urena (3-10) allowed one hit over six shutout innings for Miami, which was outscored 19-4 in losing the series’ first two games before allowing one run in the final two.
Diamondbacks 5, Padres 4 — At
San Diego, Paul Goldschmidt and Nick Ahmed each hit a two-run homer to back Clay Buchholz (4-1), who won his third straight start and dealt San Diego a fifth loss in a row.
Giants 8, Brewers 5 — At San Francisco, Buster Posey’s four hits included a three-run double, and Pablo Sandoval added a two-run triple for San Francisco, which avoided a four-game sweep.
Reds 4, Phillies 0 — At Cincinnati, Luis Castillo (6-8) allowed four hits and struck out nine over seven innings, and Scooter Gennett hit a two-run homer as Cincinnati won its third straight.
