Kahne changes focus, set to leave NASCAR

Kasey Kahne announced he will retire from full-time NASCAR racing after this season and plans to focus on the sprint car team he owns.

Kahne, 38, a former Hendrick Motorsport­s driver, has 18 victories, including a playoff-clinching win last season at Indianapol­is, in 15 NASCAR seasons.

He has one topfive finish in 23 starts this year for Leavine Family Racing. His Kasey Kahne Racing team competes in the World of Outlaws series.

NASCAR trucks: At Bristol, Tenn., Johnny Sauter took the lead when John Hunter Nemechek slowed because of late fuel pump issues and then held off Stewart Friesen by 0.236 seconds to win the UNOH 200 for his fifth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory of the season. Sauter, 40, clinched the regular-season series title by starting the race. in the semifinals, moved up one place to second. Brazil, beaten by Belgium in the quarterfin­als, fell to third. Croatia climbed 16 places to fourth to equal its best ranking.

Previous champion Germany’s eliminatio­n from the group stage dropped it from first to 15th.

Spanish league: A regularsea­son game is coming to the United States, possibly as early as this season, with Real Madrid or Barcelona potentiall­y involved but unlikely to play each other, as part of a new 15-year partnershi­p with sports and entertainm­ent group Relevent to promote soccer in North America.

Italian league: The two teams from Genoa, including Juventus, in what was to have been Cristiano Ronaldo’s competitiv­e debut for his new club, had their weekend matches postponed following a bridge collapse in the Italian city that killed at least 39 people.
